PRESENTING RANGANATHAN TRIO CONCERT 

@ MAZDA HALL

L’Alliance Française de Pune, in association with the Poona Music Society, DGAF Inde-Népal and Oman Air as airline partner, invites everyone for a concert by the Ranganathan Trio with Ajay, 22, playing the violin, and the twins Ravi and Théo, 19, playing the cello and the piano. The Ranganathan Trio is composed of three brothers – all students of various masters' degrees. They started their musical education together in the Conservatory of Tours in France and graduated with the First Prize of chamber Music with the jury’s unanimity. During their concerts, they always present the historical context of the works they play, and the lives of the composers. They have dedicated themselves to the repertoire of trio compositions dating back to 1750 to the present day, and they also explore sonatas for two instruments. Their concert will be a tribute to the renowned French classical music composers Ernest Chausson, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Ravel.

JOIN CALLIGRAPHY CLUB WITH ADITI DEO

Art2Day is starting a new initiative “Wednesday Calligraphy Club” with avid calligrapher and illustrator Aditi Deo. This timing is particularly suitable for near-adults or the working young, who would like a mid-week activity for self development. The club has been created for the practice & promotion of Traditional Calligraphy & Hand Lettering and is intended to induct interested students purely for their interest in the subject of calligraphy. ​The Participants will start with training to use the various Calligraphic tools, so that they can begin practicing the craft on their own. Thereafter, they can renew their membership every 3 months. The 3-month-at-a-time membership idea has been initiated because it is easy to make a commitment for 12 weeks at a time. If members choose they can suspend their membership for a few months & then sign up once again when they make time.

Art Quarter has been designed after studying the results of years of fragmented teaching techniques that cover one subject or medium at a time. It has been designed as the 1^st confident step into the world of learning & appreciating the visual arts. The Art Quarter consists of 4 modules of 3 weeks each – Pencil Sketching, Pen & Ink, Calligraphy & Watercolour. These mediums are easy to learn and the materials are easy to carry. The teaching technique is very intuitive. That way each student can map their own progress & also their path forward. Aditi Deo is an experienced teacher of art and a practising calligrapher & illustrator.

The Alliance Française de Pune presents the annual “FASHION AND DRESS CODES” Photo Contest to show the extent and the wealth of heritage, of contemporary creativity, and of innovations all over the world. The theme is “La Mode et les Codes Vestimentaires” – “Fashion and Dress Codes”. Participation is free & open to all non-professional & semi-professional photographers aged 18 and above. The “Grand Prize Winner” will be invited to spend one week in Paris by the Fondation Alliance Française. Some photos submitted by the “Grand Prize Winner” and the “Finalists” will be exhibited in a group exhibition at a Parisian art space chosen by the Fondation Alliance Française and/or at the gallery of the Fondation. All participants from Pune will win gifts from the Alliance Française de Pune for their participation.

SEA WORLD @ PHOENIX MARKETCITY PUNE

Blending imagination with nature, Phoenix Marketcity Pune creatively showcases a collection of mystical sea creatures that reside in the depths of the ocean, using balloons. Superbly crafted installations displayed all around the mall are put together by a world-renowned balloon artist Kobi. He has the record of thousands of awe-inspiring balloon designs in his kitty, one of his latest projects for world peace was a 27m high dove. The showcase reflects the exotic beauty of underwater life, with on-ground and suspended displays. The week-long exhibit will feature various larger than life works of art such as Black & White Whale (13ft), Oval Aquarium (20ft) Octopus of size (15ft) Mermaid on rock (10ft) among many others. All will be put together using approximately 15,000 balloons to bring in a never seen before experience for Punekars.
